Here is a Quick tutorial on how to set up a particle system for Sapling trees
You will need my Leaf Collection for this
I know it’s not much but you will understand the basics so you can do it on your own tree designs.
I also made a cheat sheet
with the most important settings and stuff you can play around with (wich is not mentioned in the Video)
i present to you
a little project i did recently
all done in Blender 2.66
the ship is a stylized version of the Nao Viktoria
wich was by the way the first ship to go around the world!
the sound is not the best but i had to use royalty free samples for it.
if you look at the ropes you can see they also have simulation going on.
i hope you like it so please write comments
all the best
greetings Kai Cent
i did this for the Growkit project wich wont be released as a Script.
i found a way to use the existing particle system to grow leafs on trees, bushes or the ground.
wich is basicly what these UV mapped planes are made for.
-Subdivided for basic curved shape.
-Pivot point set to the root.
-Packed color textures and normal maps.
-Basic cycles material setup.
You can use them for trees bushes or plants.
If you append the objekts they will be on the last layer.
a tutorial on how to use them properly will be uploaded soon.
but for now i will leave you with a download link
i did try to upload it to Blendswap
but after a many failed attemps i switched to mega.
over and out
Long time no see…
After some time in south east asia i am back on the track.
a lot has happend and i am happy to anounce that i just won a free sketchfab.me account via Blendernation
check it out here: http://kai_cent.sketchfab.me/about
If you are still waiting for the growkit to arrive i have to admit that i had to stop working on it.
This has many reasons but the most counting one is the fact that i dont have time to take it as far as i like and i found a different workflow that gives me the same result.
I will post a tutorial on how to use particles for the leaf’s.
also you will get my leaf textures ready to be used in Blender internal and Cycles
so stay tuned till next week…i promise
