it has been a long time now but finally i have some time to share some new work by me.
i have been working on commercial projects wich took a long time and i am not allowed to share the work i have done there.
Most of it was Landscape and vegetation for Cycles rendering.
after spending too much time in front of my computer i decided to try something different.
so here is my tree modeled in Fimo and rendered by photons hitting my Gopro 😀
Also here is a speed modeling breakdown of how it was done.
Here is a Quick tutorial on how to set up a particle system for Sapling trees
You will need my Leaf Collection for this
I know it’s not much but you will understand the basics so you can do it on your own tree designs.
I also made a cheat sheet
with the most important settings and stuff you can play around with (wich is not mentioned in the Video)
i did this for the Growkit project wich wont be released as a Script.
i found a way to use the existing particle system to grow leafs on trees, bushes or the ground.
wich is basicly what these UV mapped planes are made for.
-Subdivided for basic curved shape.
-Pivot point set to the root.
-Packed color textures and normal maps.
-Basic cycles material setup.
You can use them for trees bushes or plants.
If you append the objekts they will be on the last layer.
a tutorial on how to use them properly will be uploaded soon.
but for now i will leave you with a download link
i did try to upload it to Blendswap
but after a many failed attemps i switched to mega.
over and out
here’s a quick update on the leaves. I added 2 shape keys to the leaf to get the bending going.
hope you like it.
Today i found this nice remake of the gen3 called sapling by truman.
you should download it and give it a try.
i had some fun with it.
i converted the curves to a mesh and added vertex groups so i can use it with my hair particles.
Also i added particlesystems for the different growstyles of the leaves.
more comming soon
The Blender 2.5 growkit is not a tree generator but it will be a powerful and easy way to make both low and highpoly trees with a lot of control!
i use rig’d branches so i can move and scale them very easy.
The leaf’s are placed using hair particles and vertexgroups
my idea is to make a library of leaf’s and branches
and then share the blend. file so everyone can enjoy some nice looking trees (or weeds)
the picture above is just a preview of how the library could look like i used pictures from different sources,
i have to ask them if i can use these images plus i will make some on my own soon.
If you have some good pictures you want to share or just want to say hello please contact me.
